Shut the front door, I finally have a blog!
I was so stinking excited to check out the colors and the backgrounds and different layouts for this site, but when it came to writing my tagline, I was at a loss. Like, oh my goodness, what do I want people to know about me at a glance? What a silly thing to fret about, I know. I was really intimidated after reading some super creative ones, like, “Wife of so-and-so, mother to so-and-so, lover of [insert random activity that no one has ever heard of here].”
My thoughts: “Great. Um, NONE of those applies to me.”
Definitely not. NEXT!
“Writer, speaker, foodie, Wii Just Dance Champion, gardener…”
Well, isn’t that just precious? I can identify with NONE of the above. Moving on.
“Happily taken by…”
EENNKK, WRONG ANSWER!
And then the Holy Spirit nudged.
“Are you trying to prove to people that you’re interesting? By whose standards? The world’s? Are you really searching for your identity in ‘things?’ Are you trying to define yourself by what you do, what position you hold, who you are in a relationship with, what your hobbies are?” Gee, thanks, Holy Spirit, let me backspace all these great, interesting, not-really-important things about myself real quick………
It’s so easy to buy into this lie that we have to do all these things to be interesting, to be accepted, to be approved. (I should know, I’m the world’s chief approval addict.)
But the reality is that Jesus is enough.
Let me say it again, for myself.
Jesus is enough. Have you ever thought about that statement? Jesus is enough for me. Jesus is enough for you. Jesus is enough PERIOD. Do you believe that? I know I am certainly challenged by that statement.
Colossians 2:9-10 says, “For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;”
These verses tell me that:
1. Jesus is the ultimate authority.
and 2. He is what completes me.
I don’t need to be an Olympic champion to be complete. I don’t have to be the Wii Just Dance Champion to be complete. And I certainly don’t have to be “happily taken by Johnny” to be complete. And neither do you. No, only One can fill you and complete you and give your life purpose, and His name is Jesus.
So, fellow bloggers, what you need to know about me is that Jesus saved me, He redeemed me, and He completes me.
Be blessed and challenged today by God’s Word; I know I certainly am!
